Welcome to Bates House of Turkey
Bates House of Turkey is a family-owned Alabama legend where folks gather for dishes like our famous hickory smoked turkey sandwich and our old-fashioned roast turkey dinner. It all started in 1923 when the Bates family opened our free-range turkey farm. As the farm became more successful, we opened the doors to our restaurant in 1969 just 12 miles down the road from our farm, and the rest is history.

I had one shipped to me a few years ago. It was so good, moist and had a rich smoky flavor. My family asks every year at thanksgiving, when are you going to smoke another turkey (I let them think I did all the work myself until last year). I tried smoking one myself, I can't say it wasn't good but it wasn't nearly as good as Bates. Plus!!! It is a lot of work. This year, we will have Bates for sure and if I can't get it shipped, it will be worth the drive down to get one. I may even stop by Priesters and pick up pecan pies as well.
